In Short

I have always been a huge fan of Cassandra Clare’s work, but I absolutely adored Clockwork Prince. It was by far one of the best books I have read in a long time. The sequel had the petrfect amount of suspense, surprise, action, and romance in it an it definitely kept me reading for hours. I expected this book to be great but it was much more than that. I went to bed at 11:00 almost every night reading and woke up at 7. If you have read Clare’s City of Bones series or Clockwork Angel you will not be disappointed in Clockwork Prince. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there are major suprises and revelations in this book. I nearly sprung up out of my seat plenty of times while reading. (especially because I am a Jem and Tessa shipper) *hint *hint

I am an avid reader, and I believe there are two main classifications of books. There are books we read to have a bit of fun, and the books that make us remeber why we wanted to read it in the first place. Clockwork Prince was a book that made me remember why I love reading and it rekindled my love for reading. The feeling is almost electric, and the writing helps put me into the character’s shoes. While reading Clare’s book, I couldn’t help but feel that constant jolt of adrenaline; despite the fact, I was laying on my bed. One of the reasons I love to read is so I can escape my everyday life and become someone else (almost like Tessa’s powers). Cassandra Clare is absolutely brilliant, and if she doesn’t know that already, I hope she is reading. She is an inspiration to me as a writer, and she has definitely earned a spot in my top 10 list of authors.

Sorry Sorry Sorry (and good news)

Hello, is anyone still reading? If so, then I am so sorry that I haven’t posted for about a month or two. I was overwhelmed with school and sports and friends (and my computer broke), and I hadn’t gotten a chance to blog. I totally understand that I missed out on posting the Hunger Games trailer, and I didn’t mention that Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare just came out. I haven’t reviewed the past three books I’ve just read, but I promise I’ll be better. I finally got a computer, and I will make an effort to blog every other week (at least).

On a different note, I am planning on getting my own domain. Soon the The World of Books will no longer be the World of Books, but the site will still have the same layout and themes as this site. Although, I am expanding the blog to not just reading but writing as well. I am a huge poet and writer, and I would love to share that with you guys. I would also love to hear some of your work, so I plan on focusing the new site on reading and writing.

“City of Bones” Screenplay

Hey guys,

Long time no post and I’m sorry it’s been a while. I’ve been itching to post something, but I’ve been incredibly busy (and there hasn’t been much major news lately. I just read here that the “City of Bones” has finally gotten screenwriter, Marlene King.

If you enjoy Pretty Little Liars, then I’m sure you’ll be excited to know that King is the runner of the show. She has also done screenplay for “Just My Luck” and “Now and Then”. She tweeted earlier:

“They’re making a movie of the Mortal Instruments and I’m happy to say [I'm] working on the script.”

Hopefully, there will be some more news on the movie soon (like who the rest of the cast will be), but I guess this is it for now.

Catching Fire in 2013

Calling all fans if the Hunger Games, it seems like we will be able to see more of the series on the big screen. Lionsgate has already confirmed the release date of the next movie in the Hunger Games film franchise, November 22, 2013. Of course, the movie will be based on the sequel to the beloved series, Catching Fire. There hasn’t been any more details about the series yet, but if when we get wind of news about Catching Fire or the Hunger Games we will be sure to post it.

Hey everybody,

I started blogging two years ago, and it still doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. I still can’t get over the fact that the World of Books has been up for that long. I want to thank everyone that has helped this blog become what it is today. All of your views, comments, and subscriptions have helped shape this blog. Last year, I had a total of 8,500 hits, and this year I had a total of 11,925. I have a total of 184 posts and almost 40 followers on Twitter. Although I know I have a lot of work left to do with my blog, I can’t help but feel grateful for all of you guys that made it possible.

I want to thank all of you guys again, and keep reading, spread the word, and unite all book lovers!

P.S. The Hunger Games movie site is now officially up, and the movie poster was recently released.

The Beginning of the End: The Harry Potter Legacy

Recently, I went to see the latest Harry Potter film (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2), but before I review the series, I want to talk a little bit about my “Harry Potter” story. I was about two years old when the first Harry Potter novel was released (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone), and I was about six when the first movie was released. Although, one memory that continues to linger in my mind is my first time watching the movie. My grandmother had bought the DVD, and I sat in front of the television watching a movie that would impact so many lives in later years. At that age, I had found the movie to be a little confusing to follow, and perhaps, that is the reason I had never delved into the world of Harry Potter.

My only memories of any of the movies were of the first one, a a little bit of the second one, the fourth one, half of the sixth one (in which most of the time watching it I was confused), and the seventh movie. I had never really focused on reading or watching the entire series- despite nudging reviews and feedback that were linked to the series, but one day after being badgered by a Harry Potter super-fan friend of mine, I decided to read the books. People who knew me were surprised to find out that me, the super reader, had never read the Harry Potter series. I really want to thank my friend that threatened me into reading it and everyone else that pushed me towards reading the series because it was perhaps the best book I have ever read. After reading it, I felt that if I had never read the books I would be doing a disservice to myself.

I admit, I cried in the last movie and last book. Not because the series was ending but because J.K. Rowling was an amazing writer, and the series had a wonderful sense of togetherness- that I felt in the books and movies. Although, I wished the movie could have been more detailed, but of course, time restraints limited the amount of things they could put in. Overall, I would give the movie five stars. I was a great conclusion to the series that managed to stay true to the book.

Harry Potter is definitely a series that will stick with us forever, whether J.K. Rowling meant for it to happen or not. A word of her creation, muggle, has been put into the dictionary- there is no way Harry Potter can be forgotten. Due to the fact the world is so different from our own yet it manages to still maintain its reality, it creates a sense of longing and craving to be whisked away to the magical world. In a way, this series feeds the imagination in a way different than most books. Harry Potter has reached both the lives of adults and kids, and I think it will continue to do so. In the movie posters for The Deathly Hollows: Part 2 it says, “It all ends here,” but truly, the magic of Harry Potter as just begun.

“Inheritance” or The Vault of Souls?

Shurtugal.com was sent an official video of Christopher Paolini that shows him writing the last two words in “Inheritance” (The End). The manuscript was huge, but I’m looking forward to read it- no matter how long it is. In the video, there is a “hint hint”, that points out the subtitle of the book, The Vault of Souls.

I’m really happy for him because he has been writing this book for a long time, and it was nice to see him finally complete the series. Let me know what you guys think of the video, and what you guys are anticipating or looking forward to in the series.
